Schmooze Awards
July 26, 2007 by earthpal
The kindly Little Indian gave me a Schmooze award and coming from him, I feel mightily honoured, humbled and privileged
. . . and so on and so forth.
Over on his blog incidentally, he has been coming over all Dr. Who’ish so all you tardis-types - you might like to have a wander over and join in the discussions. Myself, I’d rather keep away from anything associated with those dreadfulsome daleks.
Anyhoo, t’is my turn to choose some schmooze so here goes. First I’ll explain what a schmooze award is. Well, I’ll interpret all the definitions that I’ve read into my own words and if by this, it transpires that I’ve totally misunderstood the meaning of this award, then I will be suitably contrite. However, be warned. If I am wrong, I may start my own award based on my version of what the schmooze awards are or should be (I won’t really).
Here goes…a schmoozer is a blogger who nurtures the community aspect of blogging … someone who regularly visits and interacts with other blogs/bloggers and also, very importantly I think, always acknowledges, welcomes and responds to all the people who post comments to his or her own blog.
I think schmoozers are also supposed to visit new blogs - schmoozing their way in and out of random blogs, making new friends and dropping friendly comments (which I don’t actually do myself really. Not much anyway. I tend to stick to the blogs that I’m already aquainted with or those who happen to find me first, so I can’t very well insist on this particular standard being met by my own chosen awardees can I).
So anyway, here are some bloggers who I think fill the aforementioned criteria thus being richly deserved of the Power of the Schmooze award:
Helen Bindi Matt Jose PaddyK Misslionheart
Feel free to pass on the award. Likewise, feel free not to. T’is just for fun.

Hey,
I missed this post! Blogging certainly is about the things you mention. Can’t really see the point in blogging to one’s own navel!
Thanks earthpal. Sunny days … at last!
Another? Yippee!
I thought you were just being bashful. Glad you’ve finally stepped up to recieve your awards.
True Matt, one thing that annoys me about blogging is making comments on other blogs that are then totally ignored. So rude.
I think such people just don’t understand the art of blogging!
Btw, recent survey (which I heard about on the radio) shows 12% of the UK public are into blogging. So that’s 1 in 10 which is quite high me thinks. This is down however from the initial excitement of 17% of UK public, so the slackers are getting weeded out.
Full of useless stats me.
Lol. Useless but still interesting. Those stats show that many people hold a desire to ‘have their say’ instead of just ‘being told’ via the media.
And isn’t it funny how non-bloggers just don’t get blogging. Many of my friends and family ask me….what’s the point?
I tell them it’s mostly because of the importance of debate on vital issues such as the planet, humanity etc. The rest, the personal stuff, I don’t even mention . . . because it’s my little refuge.
Oh it’s still very much an ‘us & them’ situation. I don’t know anyone else that blogs amongst friends, family and acquaintances, except the others at The Coffee House of course. But hey, it’s them missing out!
Yes, I only know a couple of other people who blog. I enjoy it. It keeps my mind active and gives me a daily few minutes of peace.
Hey, thanks! I always feel that replying to comments is the sacred duty of a blogger. Otherwise what’s the point?
I agree Paddy. And welcome back. Looking forward to catching up with your blog.
Hi Earthpal. And thanks for the award. We’ve been busy with major problems getting the Mule online and still aren’t finished. But I didn’t mean to be rude and not say, thanks.
You’re welcome Helen. And you’re never rude.
Good luck with the Mule project.
Hi earthpal, thanks for the award, mate. It is true, I usually leave comments wherever I go, especially if the post made me think. Its much more fun to interact a little. But I am now a bit bamboozled, because I would have passed the award on to misslionheart for sure, so I now have to think of someone else who I haven’t visited first - that’s a hard one!
My pleasure Binds.
You may discover some great new blogs on your search for an awardee. Lol.
