Striking for Fairness

This Tuesday we'll see workers take industrial action against recent policies which are to affect their pension rights.

Their main gripe seems to be that they will lose their right to retire at 60. What I find devisive and unfair is that it is mostly support staff that lose this right yet trained staff get to keep it. It's demoralising and demeaning to expect these people to happily work alongside their colleagues who have been awarded a much more valued status in comparison to themselves who clearly feel undervalued. Their supportive work would soon be missed by these professionals who daily depend on their important and much needed assistance.

It's obscene that our government is backhandedly awarding peerages for loans yet withdrawing pension rights from public sector workers who give a valuable and very necessary service.

Good luck to them all on Tuesday.
