More gestures of goodwill and nothing of any real value. 

This weekend saw the Apec summit and the 21 leaders signing the Sydney Declaration on climate change.  George Bush got his way as did China and Australia, with a frustrating lack of binding targets or firm commitments and instead, expecting the world to trust that the leaders will willingly meet their self-set voluntary targets.  Well if that is all they can offer, then the world is in big trouble.  Greenpeace called the agreement the Sydney Distraction.  Much more apt says I.

  1. Problem is that none of the fattest ones will bell the cat. Industry is too much based on organic energy to change the process at this moment.
